About Project rainbow
Project Rainbow of Iowa is a non-profit organization based in Des Moines, IA with a mission to spread pride, inclusivity, and visibility throughout the state. Founded in 2023 and modeled after the original Project Rainbow (founded in Utah in 2018), we want to make it clear to our LGBTQ+ friends and family that they belong here and we will fight with and for them.
What we do
During the weeks surrounding Pride month, we’ll stake Progress flags at homes and businesses throughout Polk County and surrounding areas to create visible demonstrations of support and love for the LGBTQ+ community.
Funds raised during our flag campaign will be donated to direct service organizations supporting the LGBTQ+ community. 100% of the donations we received in 2023 were donated!
